New way to fight spammers

IdeasIt occurred to me the other day that the Internet provides a great means of fighting spammers. Each major spammer on the Internet MUST register a domain name. So it stands to reason that a lot of money is being spent by these clowns to push domain after weirdly named domain out to start running their nefarious activities.

Since there are thirteen DNS root servers running the entire backbone of the Internet, it makes sense to consider that this is the construction point from which a control mechanism could be placed.

Imagine now that you have a spammer sending emails to millions of people. Imagine if Internet providers and common folk could detect and then report these emails to a central reporting point where counters for complaints against a web site are racked up and eventually signal an alarm, having a human being or group thereof decide that the offending domain is a spammer owned domain. They react and decide that the domain is a spammer and lock it's record and remove it fro DNS and stop the problem in it's tracks.

Of course, this is filled with all manner of legal and ethical challenges, but you get the germ of the idea.

Exploring the solar system on the cheap

Ideas You know, space exploration should be cheap...

Considering the vast increase in miniaturizing electronics and in power systems, it should be possible to employ micro-spacecraft to spread throughout the solar system for pennies on the dollar.

Imagine that, in the future, you are a worker about the ISS. The installation has been equipped with manufacturing facilities to produce micro-spacecraft components. Raw materials are shipped up and you press a button, initiating the creation of the latest batch of explora-bots or "e-bots" as your team knows them.
